What are the different types of Ouxi's?

Introduction to Ouxi Fatbikes

What types of Ouxi are there and which are legal and real? Which one should you choose and why? In this blog we will discuss the different types of Ouxi and how to choose the right one.

Different Models of Ouxi

Ouxi V8 - The Beginning

Currently there are a number of different Ouxi's.

The Ouxi V8, the most popular model in the series, this is where it all started: the bikes. In 2022, the Ouxi brand started to emerge in the Netherlands, first the version 1.0 came out and now you see different types riding every day.

The first Ouxi fatbikes turned out to be not quite right: they could go 50 kilometers per hour, and the engine/display often broke. They had low handlebars that looked tough. The thick 20 inch wide tires made them very popular. The large LED display was also popular.

Ouxi V8 2.0 - The Improved Version

The Ouxi V8 2.0 , an improved version of the Ouxi V8 1.0. The Ouxi V8 2.0 also came with low handlebars, but had improved components: the displays were made virtually waterproof and quick connectors were made so that parts could be replaced quickly (green plugs). These Ouxis sold quite a lot and you still see them driving around a lot.

Ouxi V8 3.0 - Further Innovations

The Ouxi V8 3.0 was released in 2023 with high handlebars and renewed tires; this was another step forward in the right direction. However, there was a problem: the bikes could still be tuned and the Dutch government increasingly checked tuned fat bikes. The fat bikes were still allowed to be sold with a throttle, but only on private property. Many selling parties saw their opportunity and jumped in, and many fake versions of the Ouxi V8 fat bike were released.

Ouxi V8 4.0 - The Current Model

The Ouxi V8 4.0 is the model we are currently in. In the meantime, the display of the V8 is limited and you can no longer simply increase it with a code; many people do not like this and still want to increase their V8 fatbike.

There are still many possibilities to tune the Ouxi V8, for example you can buy a tuneable display, or have the display unlocked by your fatbike dealer. It is not smart to tune fatbikes. It is forbidden to ride them on public roads. If you do this anyway, you can lose your fatbike.

Market Situation and Confusion

Challenges in the Market

In the meantime, there is a lot of confusion on the market due to fake versions of the Ouxi's and branded products, for example Fatbike shop La Souris, the La Souris Crossboss. The La Souris Crossboss is actually just an Ouxi V8 bike with the Crossboss logo on it. It is actually the same model, only with a different sticker on it. It is not fake, but just with a different name.

For the rest, the Crossboss does not differ from the Ouxi V8. The Crossboss has the same specifications and comes from exactly the same factory as the Ouxi V8.

Original Models of Ouxi

Ouxi Fatbike Variants

The original variants of the Ouxi are the following models :

  • Ouxi V6: one of the first folding bikes from Ouxi.
  • Ouxi V1: Also a folding bike model from the Ouxi brand.
  • Ouxi V8: The most popular model of Ouxi.
  • Ouxi H9: The first real cross model from Ouxi with a center spring for extra comfort during every ride. This bike has everything you need.
  • Ouxi V8 Max has two batteries. This allows you to drive up to 120 kilometers without worrying about an empty battery.

Competition and Name Confusion

Many manufacturers also try to emulate Ouxi's success. The V20 was launched. Many people call it the Ouxi V20. The manufacturer made clever use of that.

However, the V20 is not an Ouxi, but from the QM WHEEL brand.

Ouxi had a good name and is very popular in the Netherlands. The producer of the V20 got a lot of problems because the V20 was called the Ouxi V20. However, there is no Ouxi V20 at all and there is also no original version of the Ouxi V20, the V20 is from the brand QM Wheel.

Conclusion: Summary and Recommendations

The Ouxi fatbikes now all feature non-tunable displays and are therefore fully road legal. Do not confuse the V20 with the Ouxi V20.

The V20 is a great competitor to the Ouxi V8 and a very good model. However, this is from the brand QM Wheel. Also watch what you pay: there are many fake versions on the market, and also many Ouxi V8 fatbikes with a sticker on them like the La Souris Crossboss.

A tip from Dailyride : stick to the rules including the maximum legal speed for electric bikes, and don't use a throttle on public roads. Also make sure you buy a maximum of a 250W motor.
