This is how you get the most mileage out of your electric bike!

Switch back in time

When you have to stop and then cycle off without shifting down, your bike engine has to work hard to get going again. Make sure you shift down in time to avoid overloading your engine.

Keep your tires inflated

It is important for cyclists to keep their tires properly inflated, because underinflated tires cost a lot of energy. It can also help to avoid wind catchers such as large bags. Research has shown that underinflated tires can cost up to 20% more energy.

Bicycle 23 km/h

A study conducted by Delft University in 2017 showed that the energy consumption of an electric bicycle is about 25% less at a cruising speed of 23 kilometers per hour than at a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, the same study showed that energy consumption decreased even further at a lower speed of 15 kilometers per hour by about 35%.

Catch as little wind as possible

If you ride with a straight back, you will use much more energy. By adopting a slightly sporty body position, you can travel a longer distance with the same battery. This can save you about 10% battery capacity on a full battery.
